Aloe Vera

0

Common Name: Aloe Vera

Latin Name: Aloe chinensis

Description: Clump-forming succulent with thick, spiny, grey-green leaves with yellow orange bell shaped flowers borne on long stems. Best grown in pots as can be a little invasive in the garden. Perennial. 100cm

Harvesting: Use knife to cut off outer leaves at the base. Store in foil in the fridge for several days.

Best Results: Allow soil to dry out between good soakings of water. Plants tend to like to be root bound so don’t be in too much of a hurry to repot. Aloes tend to like a touch of shade in summer

Uses: Juice of leaves is applied directly to minor burns, bites and wounds. Not recommended internally.

Companion: Keep a plant near the house for its soothing properties.
