Common Name: Thyme – Pizza
Description: A very beautiful thyme with attractive glossy green and maroon leaves and the most distinctive pizza aroma. Pink flowers in summer. Perennial. 30cm.
Harvesting: Harvest leaves at any time but they are at their most flavoursome when in flower. The leaves are far better if used fresh though can be dried if preferred.
Best Results: For best flavour, do not overfeed or over water. Slightly limey soil. Full sun. Harvest often to encourage new growth.
Uses: Pizza thyme leaves have the most unmistakable fragrance. They can be scattered over pizzas before baking or included in any Italian tomato dishes. Use as a garnish or add to olive oil.
Plant pizza thyme near the front door so that visitors think that you are cooking!
Companion: Improves all plants grown nearby. Attracts bees to the vegetable garden.
