Latin Name: Mentha x piperita
Description: Dark, glossy green leaves on maroon coloured stems have delicious chocolaty-mint fragrance. Sprawling but invasive habit makes it best grown in large tubs. Perennial. 50cm.
Harvesting: Harvest at any time, use dried or fresh. Wet leaves and freeze in a plastic bag.
Best Results: If rust appears or plant looks lanky, cut down very hard and cover with compost. Throw leaves in bin.
Uses: Finely chop leaves to add to desserts & ice cream. Beautiful leaves are perfect as a garnish.
Companion: Chocolate mint will help freshen the breath.
