Common Name: Mint
Latin Name: Mentha spicata ‘Crispa’
Description: Classic mint with sweetly scented, bright green leaves and tiny white flowers. Sprawling but invasive habit makes it best grown in large tubs. Perennial. 50cm.
Harvesting: Harvest at any time, use dried or fresh. Try freezing in ice blocks to add to summer drinks or casseroles.
Best Results: If rust appears or plant looks lanky, cut down very hard and cover with compost. Throw leaves in bin.
Uses: Traditionally used in mint sauce with lamb or add to peas, fruit salads or potato salad.
Companion: Fresh or dried mint will deter ants from the pantry and repel clothes moth.
