Mizuna

0

Common Name: Mizuna

Latin Name: Brassica japonica

Description: This is a vigorous Asian green that produces numerous stalks of dark, deeply indented leaves. It has a sweet, mild flavour similar to lettuce and it really is a must for any vegie patch. Annual. Height 30cm.

Harvesting: Although this is an annual, it will last a lot longer than lettuce and other leafy greens.  Harvest outer leaves at any size. Treat this as cut-and-come-again salad vegie.

Best Results: Grow in full sun or part shade in rich, well drained soil. Water well. To refresh the plant if it looks tired, cut off all the large leaves to allow small ones to grow which will only take a couple of weeks.

Uses: Use leaves in sandwiches, salads and Asian dishes.

Companion: Plant throughout garden beds as the jagged foliage compliments the other plants.
