Latin Name: Ocimum basilicum
Description: Similar growth habit to sweet basil but with a distinctive cinnamon taste and perfume. Annual. Height 45cm.
Harvesting: Harvest frequently and remove flowers to encourage new growth.
Best Results: Grow in full sun to part shade in rich, well drained soil. The more basil is harvested, the more it should be fertilised. Add lots of organic matter. Frost tender.
Uses: Use leaves in fruit salads, Mexican dishes, herbal teas & oils. Also suitable for pot pourri.
Companion: Rub on skin as basil repels mosquitoes.
